From Shelves To The Shores
High School Student Scientists Wanted!
Shelves to Shores is a hands-on, science education program offered by CBA to train junior environmental stewards. Through this program, CBA partners with Coastal Branch Library in South Walton to provide an opportunity for the community's youth to play an active role in the restoration of Choctawhatchee Bay. Shelves to Shores is open to high school students. Students earn volunteer hours, learn about conservation and how to teach children of all ages.
Interested students will meet one Monday every month to learn the curriculum and will teach the curriculum on a Saturday morning to participating children. Lessons will be taught by high school students with support from AmeriCorps and CBA staff members. Topics will include salt mar exploration, oysters, water conservation, tough tanks with live animals and planting field experience.
